The Foredom H15D handpiece is unlike the rest of the range in that it does not rotate. This special handpiece “reciprocates” The tip moves in and out 1/ 32” creating a hammering action. For use with the TX or SR pendant motors. The speed is controlled via the foot pedal or the popular Foredom desktop speed controller. The force can also be adjusted by a knurled ring around the handpiece. The hammer action handpiece is designed to operate at a low speed.
This model incorporates the duplex spring which makes the handpiece a little shorter and allows it to bend. This greatly improves the flexibility and maneuverability of the handpiece. Ideal for smaller and more precise setting jobs.
It comes complete with a fine anvil point. Grains and claws can be pushed into position with precise control.
We highly recommend the addition of the threaded anvil point set. Containing a range of shapes. This set makes quick and easy work of bezel and flush setting. The anvil points can even be filed and modified to produce textures. All the tips are attached by screw thread directly into the end for easy swapping.
Pro-tip. This handpiece can also be used with the Lion punch forge graver adapter, transforming your Foredom pendant motor into a powered graver.
This model comes with the Key Tip “snap-on” type attachment for quick and easy changing between the hammer handpiece and rotary ones. No modifications are needed. See also the 15 Handpiece without the duplex spring if you prefer a longer handpiece.
H.15D Handpiece has hammering rather than rotary action for use at low speed (0-5,000 rpm) by jewelers for stone setting and decorative work. Comes with an anvil point (HP10177). It requires periodic lubrication. Hammer has 1/32″ stroke and its impact can be adjusted from light to heavy by turning the silver knurled adjusting ring. Optional points are available: 6 different shaped Anvil Points (HP10171, HP10172, HP10173, HP10175, HP10176 and HP10179); Pave Point (R15PT), and Stylus with Carbide Tip (HP10212).
Duplex springs are subject to breakage and are NOT covered by warranty.
They are made of special steel, double wound tubular construction with a protective flexible spring cover. Replacement springs (HP76) are available and can be installed by the user. We recommend that only experienced users of flex shaft tools consider purchasing this style handpiece.
For most users, the “straight” handpiece (H.15) is the preferable solution.
